"You annoint my head with oil; my cup overflows"(Ps. 23:5).

In Eastern countries it was customary not only to bathe the feet of guests as they arrived, but to pour fragrant oil on their heads, as a gesture of love and welcome.

Throughout Scripture, oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit not only reflects the presence of Christ in our lives, but emits the fragrance of Jesus Christ, the Rose of Sharon. As David pondered on the blessings he had received from the Good Shepherd, he said, "My cup overflows". The Amplfied Bible says, "My brimming cup runs over". We have been provided with such an abundant life through Jesus Christ. He said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

As we are fed at His banqueting table and controlled by His Holy Spirit, we are filled to the full until the cup of our life overflows. It is not the cup that is important. Cups are made of various kinds of material, some are ordinary earthenware cups, and some are fine china. They are various sizes for various uses. It is important, however, what we are filled with. Only that with which we are filled overflows. It is important to be in the place of God's choosing that He can channel the overflow for His purpose. The cup of our lives should be full to overflowing with the life of Jesus Christ Himself.

Our cups may be small, but we CAN overflow. We may not hold much, but we can OVERFLOW ALOT.

Have a great Tuesday. Beacons are shining lights.....Love mark Phil. 4:11
