A Stronghold In Times Of Trouble

"The Lord is good, a refuge in the time of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him" (Nahum 1:7).

On the evening of May 4, 2007, 95% of the homes and businesses in Greensburg, KS were destroyed by a EF5 tornado that was nearly 2 miles wide. Although the storm was devastating to the community, Greensburg has decided to rebuild and to create a new future for those who live there. The Discovery Channel is filming a series. Eco-Town," about Greensburg that will air next year on their new network, Planet Green. As bad as this disaster was, some good will come as a result of it.

God may allow storms into our lives, but He has a purpose to be accomplished through them. Nahum wrote, "The Lord has his way in the whirlwind and the storm" (1:3). Often we focus our eyes on the storm itself, failing to see God moving on the waves of the storm, bringing good to us. Nahun said, "The Lord is good." No matter how dark the day, how impossible the problem, the LORD IS GOOD.

Because He is good, He has promised to be a stronghold for us in our time of trouble. His stronghold is always accessible and always secure. And God know them that trust Him. We may not be exempt from trouble, but we can trust in Him in trouble.

During WW2 in a remote area, no air raid shelters could be built in one city because water was too near to the surface. When the siren sounded, the people had to flee to the open fields. One day as the siren sounded, a man gathered his few possessions and hurried out to the open fields. Soon planes could be heard above him. "What do now I do to protect myself?" he thought. His possessions gave him no safety; neither the degrees he had from leading universities in Europe and America; neither his friends.

Having peronal trust in God, he repeated, "The Lord is my Shepherd...I will fear no evil: for thou art with me" (Ps. 23:1,4). In his day of trouble he found Christ to be his place of safety, his stronghold. When the storms break in our lives, we can flee to our stronghold, Jesus Christ, finding in Him security, a secutity that is ours twenty-four hours a day, each day of the year, throughout our lifetime.

Have a great Saturday and a meaningful and fulfilling worship experience on Sunday....Love mark Phil. 4:11
