It's Good To Be Known

"O Lord you have searched me and you know me" (Ps. 139:1). A favorite mantra of our teens is, "Nobody really knows me or understands me." As adults do we say the same? How many people really do know you? Do they know the person you want them to know, or the REAL you?

David said here, "O Lord you have searched me and know me." When He searches us, we cannot hide our weaknesses, mistakes, and failures from Him. Our lives are an open book to Him. He knows the things that we try to hide from our best friends. God, who knows all, understands where we are and what we are experiencing every moment of every day. He knows our loneliness, discouragement and disappointments. He knows when things seem to be falling down around us and there is nothing we can do. Nothing takes Him by surprize.

He knows the ordinary and extraordinary parts of our everyday being. He knows our most inward thoughts. "You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar" (V 2). He plots our paths ahead. "You discern my going out and lying down; you are familiar with all my ways" (V3).

Here is the best part. Not only does He know and plan our walk, but He accompanies us on it. "You hem me in---behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me" (V5).

At this very moment, God knows us better than any person knows us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows our innermost thoughts and desires. He knows our motives and purposes, which most of the time those that are nearest to us do not know. Even though we are sometimes weak and have failures, He loves us with steadfast and unchanging love. And finally, not only does He know us for what we are, but what we can become. He knows the potential of what we can be in Jesus Christ. We can sum this up as the Psalmist does in verse 6. "Such knowlege is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain."

Have a wonderful day...With the Lord with you, make a difference...love mark Phil. 4;11
