Church of Christ

"To the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves (Eph. 1:6).

Many people today have a great fear of not being accepted. It is important for them to constantly want to gain the favor of others. We're told that acceptance is a necessary element in our personality growth. To an extent, all of us want to be noticed, appreciated, and accepted. We just want to belong. We want to be special to someone.

This is true in religion as well is in social life. Not only do we want acceptance with people, but with God as well. We work diligently to gain His favor. The real basis of our acceptance is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me" (John 14:6)

Some people base their acceptance on their feelings. But feelings and their actions change. Our acceptance does not depend on how we feel or what we are. It depends on our acceptance and obedience. God has promised that He will accept us through His Son. Of that we can be assured, for God never changes.

After my marriage, I was accepted by my wife's parents. I could walk aroud their home just as my wife could. I wasn't accepted because they liked me, although they did; nor because I did things for them, though I did. I was accepted as a member of their family because I had married their daughter. This is how we are accepted by God. We are accepted in His Son. We must remember that when God accepts us into His family we have not "arrived" in our Christian life, we have only started. What we do have in Christ is Someone who has accepted us where we are and enables us to accept ourselves as we are. Even though God loves us right now, He isn't satisfied to leave us here. He wants us to spiritually grow so that we can become more and more like His Son. We have a lifetime of growth ahead of us.

Have a wonderful day...Make a difference.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
