Are You My Lord?

"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave hime the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tiongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father" (Phil. 2:9-11).

In the early days of Christianity, the Romans were not only a strong military force, but a dominating influence in religion. They worshipped the emperor as a god. The people were 'allowed" to retain their own religion as long as they accepted "Emperor worship," along with their own belief.

The Greek word"kurios" meaning "Lord" was used as a divine title for the emperor. This is exactly the same word Paul used here is speaking of Jesus as Lord. After the death and resurrection of Jesus, God highly exalted Him, giving Him "a name that is above every other name." This "name above every other name," indicates that He is Lord. A day is coming that every knee will bow and every tongue confess Him as Lord.

In John 13:13, Jesus said to His disciples. "You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am." I believe that it is more than knee bending and tongue confessing that He wants. He wants the Lordship of our lives. He is more concerned that we confess Him with our hearts and not just our tongues. When we acknowledge Him as Lord, we recognize His ownership in our lives.

When we accept His ownership, we must submit to His will. We must relinquish all rights to our lives, holding nothing back. There can be no reservations. "If any would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" (Matt. 16:24).

We have need for Jesus to be the Lord of our lives. We must recognize His right to that place in our lives. He must be the Lord of our possessions, our home, our talents, our career....All that we are and have...Let us say with confidence and pride, YOU ARE MY LORD.

Have a wonderful day...let your light shine...Love mark Phil. 4:11
