God's Support

"And the Lord said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you" " (Gen 12:1).

We have always viewed Abraham as a man of great faith in God. After all, look what the Lord asked him to do. Just take up and leave! Leave your country, your family, your friends, all that is familiar to you. Just move! Move to a place you've never even heard of. Abraham's trust in the Lord was unwavering. Not havng a clue where he was going he "left as the Lord had told him" (V 4).

We can see the great two traits in Abraham here that are so necessary for us. Faith and obedience. The Hebrew writer says it this way, "By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going" (Heb. 12:8). He simply took the word of God.

Faith is trusting God when we cannot see where He is leading us or what He is doing. It is a "no strings attached" committment. It is taking our hands off our lives and obediently following His directions. God may be leading us into a new situation or activity today. It may be someone you know who needs your help or an ear to listen. We may not know where the Lord is leading us but as Abraham showed his great faith through obedience, we are to do the same.

We can become "faith travelers" and not schedule keepers. We may not be called to leave home as Abraham was, but we may be asked to "move our hearts." We may need to release our dependence on earthly things and be supported by the Lord's powerful hand. To Timothy Paul writes, "holding on to faith and a good conscience" (1 Tim. 1:18). The Lord will support and hold us up if we put our complete faith in Him.

Have a great day...Make a difference...Love mark Phil. 4:11
