Avoiding Detours

"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it" " (Isa. 30:21).

Many years ago our family had an Irish Setter dog named Diney. I was doing alot of distance running in those days and, and often Diney would come along with me. Alot of my favorite runs were through the woods. Diney would sprint ahead of me and wander off the path to chase a bird or squirrel. She would sometimes wander off the paths just to wander. At the end of our runs she was more exhausted than I was. It was from all the detours she took. She was off the path more than on it.

We may become exhausted physically, mentally, or spiritually at times because of the detours we take from God's path. We run this way and that way, on paths of our own making. The Lord has promised to be our Personal guide through life. His part is to open the path before us; our part is to walk on it. Whether it is rough or smooth, easy or hard, dark or bright, we have Someone who knows every step of the way. Our part is to seek guidance from His Word and from prayer. He promised in Psalm 32:8; "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel and watch over you."

There are so many distractions that try to pull us off the path. Temptations that lure us to turn this way or that. We must close our ears to the voices so that we may hear His voice. We need to stay close enough to Him, that His voice is clear. If the way isn't clear, we may need to wait until it is.

Lets let the Lord be the traffic light of our lives. At the right time it will turn green indicating that we can go ahead. We will hear the Lord say, "This is the way; walk in it."

Have a great weekend and a wonderful Lord's day... Love mark Phil. 4:11
