Our Wonderful Bible

"All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2Tim. 3:16-17).

As surely as food is necessary for growth and development of our bodies, so God's Word is necessary for growth and maintainance of our spiritual selves. "Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul" (Jer. 15:16).

There is a difference between the Bible and other books out there. The Bible is "God-breathed." Its power lies in that it is the revelation of the living God. It is His word of authority in our lives. It is more however than just a book to impart knowlege. It reveals to us our need of a Savior, Jesus Christ. It has been given to us for training, instruction, direction and guidance in our daily life. It gives us the "spiritual nourishment" for growth and maturity. It "balances" our spiritual diet.

Paul reminds Timothy of the importance of knowing the Word of God, and its use as a guideline for living. In this passage he listed four ways in which the Bible is profitable for life.

1. For doctrine, that is for teaching...It is useful to teach us what is true.

2. For rebuking (reproof)...To show us where we are wrong....where we have deviated from God's course...to help us realize what is wrong in our lives.

3. For correction...To set and reset the direction of our lives. To get us going in the right way

4. For instruction in righteousness...To keep us right...To help us do what is right.

There is purpose in the Scripture. It is God's way for us to be "thoroughly equipped for every good work." The principles of everyday living and the answers to life's needs are in the Bible. It is indeed our book of guidance.

Have a great Tuesday...Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
