The Height Of Fashion

"Therefore as God's chosen people, and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. (Col. 3:12).

Today we live in a fashion conscious world. There are best dressed lists and worst dressed lists. Many times, clothes are chosen carefully and coordinated for each occasion. This is true also in men's fashions.

More important than the proper selection of our outer wardrobe is our our inner attire. Today's scripture mentions several parts of our spiritual wardrobe. The first article is compassion. It is a heart of empathy. The ability to put ourselves in the place of others who are suffering. There is an old Native American custom of how a judge in the tribe would judge another. It was said that he would not judge another until he had walked in his moccasins for three weeks.

Other parts of our attire are kindness, humility and gentleness. These should be displayed in both word and deed. We are to be thoughtful of others, unselfish, encouraging those who are in need of encouragement. Humility should be our head covering. This is a lowliness of attitude about ourselves, not always thinking of self first. Gentleness is another part of our dress, accepting without resistance God's dealing with us, recognizing they are for our good.

Patience is something we should also wear. The ability to endure without complaining, even if the suffering lasts for a while. In verse 13 we are told to bear with one another and be forgiving. This is an important part of our wardrobe. It adds beauty to it. To forgive others as God forgives us.

The last part of a well coordinated wardrobe is mentioned in verse 14. It is love. This is the crowning touch to any spiritual ensemble. It is what makes everything else we wear, "match." The scripture says, "And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

Lets go out into the world today as a "well dressed" child of God.

Have a great day..Make a difference.....Love mark Phil. 4:11
