Valentine's Day - A Day Of The Heart

"Because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us (Rom. 5:5).

Just before I got to the computer, I wrote something really "mushy" on a Valentine Card for my wife Jane, and left it on the table for her to read when she awakes. February is Valentine Month, a special time to show our love for that someone special. The getting and giving of valentines has been a long held tradition. Its just kind of fun to get and give one. More important than the valentine itself is the thought that sends it.

God has selected us to be "Living Valentines," His living messengers. "You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on the tablets of human hearts" (2 Cor. 3:3). As His messengers, we are to carry His message of love wherever we go. This message is found in a verse of scripture, John 3:16, That most of you can quote by heart. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

God's love is real and genuine. In 1 John 4:8, we find the words, "God is love." It is a constant and unchanging love. "Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love" (John 13:1). It is the most powerful love that exists in this world. "Who shall separate us from the love ofChrist? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Rom. 8:36-37).His walk is one of example. "And live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us (Eph. 5:2).

This love of God is shed to those around us, becoming real in our lives through the Holy Spirit. As it fills our lives, it overflows into the lives of others. May our hearts be so filled with His love that we will be "Living Valentines," reflecting His love to a world that desperately needs it. Each day can be a Valentines Day...

Have a wonderful day....Let your light shine...Love mark Phil. 4:11
