The Wonders Of The World - Part 2

"God made two great lights----the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night' (Gen.)1:16).

The total lunar eclipse taking place tomorrow (Feb. 20) night is truely a great wonder. Total lunar ecplises happen only when the moon is in a "full moon" phase. At this time the sun, earth and moon are in a "straight line." The darkening of the moon is caused by the shadow of the earth passing onto the moon's surface. Since the moon is about 250,00 miles from the earth this is a pretty long shadow.

Unalike eclipses of the sun, IT IS NOT DANGEROUS TO THE EYES TO VIEW A LUNAR ECLIPSE !! You may stare directly at it for as long as you wish. "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him. You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor" (Psa. 8:3-4).

It is a wonder to me also, with the magnificence of the sun, moon, and stars, that WE are God's crowning creation. With that honor comes responsibility. "You made him (thats us) ruler over the works of your hands; and put everything under his feet" (Psa. 8:6). Our responsibility is to be "just stewards" of that in which we have been put in charge. Showing a deep respect for God's creation, in caring for his earth.

If the skies cooperate, the spectacle of the total lunar eclipse will be a wonderful experience. We can pause to reflect on the awsome nature of our Great Creator and Savior. That we can say with a deep pride, respect, and love, "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth" (Psa. 8: 9)

Have a wonderful day....Make a difference for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
