The Opened Wndow

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom. 15: 5-6).

The Bible gives us guidlines for our relationships with others. Whether they are members of our family, neighbors, business associates, or fellow church members, the instructions for harmonious living are found in His Word. Paul wrote to us that we are to live in COMPLETE HARMONY with each other. He wrote, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:5). Because we have the mind of Christ, we can have the proper attitude toward others. There is more than just having His mind though. We must let it possess us, giving us His thoughts, His attitudes, and His desires.

God can give us the right tools to associate with others. The tools of patience, consistancy, and encouragement come to mind. In remembering how patient God is with us, we in turn can show that patience to others. God gives us stability when we are discouraged and want to give up. Through Him we are encouraged and can encourage others.

Years ago during our singing in worship services, I thought the I was going "tone deaf." I am a bass, and every note that I was singing to a very familiar song that I had sung many times seemed wrong. It took me a while to figure it out. There was a woman sitting behind me "trying" to sing the alto part. She WAS tone deaf. She had no idea what note she was singing, but knew to go up and down as she looked at the notes to the song. The melodious harmony of a singing group can be destroyed by just one person singing the wrong notes.

One person out of tune with God, perhaps having an over critical attitude, can hinder the harmony that Paul speaks of in Romans 15:5-5..."so that with one heart and one mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." That means HARMONY! When we live in harmony with each other whether in our homes, in our community, or in our church, our lives manifest to others a clearer picture of God. Our lives become a song of praise to Him, hitting all the right notes.

Do our lives make others around us think of God? "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God" (Rom. 15:7).

Have a great day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
