God Will Use Me?

"But Lord," Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family" (Judges 6:15).

When there is work to be done, God uses people to accomplish it. Here in the Book of Judges, God wanted to deliver Israel from the Midianites, a very powerful nation. He chose Gideon. One day an angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon saying, "The Lord is with you, a mighty warrior." Gideon replied, "If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?" (Judges 6:12-13) We might have asked the same question. If the Lord was with them WHY were they being harrased by the Midianites? Do we ever question the "if" and "why."

Back to Gideon. Understanding his own limitations, Gideon could not believe that God had made the right choice. He was not a military leader. He was timid, insecure, and lacked the confidence necessary to do what God wanted him to do. He wasn't even the strongest in his own family. What Gideon did not take into consideration was the power of God. In verse 14 the Lord assured Gideon that of that power. He said, "Go in the strength you have, and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?" God saw something in Gideon that Gideon himself did not see. He saw a potential. He saw what He could do in Gideon's life.

But that was not all....Not only was God's power available, but also His presence. "The Lord said, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together" " (16).

We may also be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task God has chosen for us. We may take Gideon's attitude. "I am just not qualified" or "I just can't do that." But the Lord has promised us his power. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power" (Eph. 6:10). We are also promised His presence. "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you" (Heb. 13:5).

God is searching for those who are willing to serve Him. Searching for those willing to recognize their own insufficiency. Those willing to be filled with His POWER and PRESENCE. God never asks us to do what He cannot do.

Have a wonderful day...Make a difference.. Love mark Phil. 4:11
