"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matt. 6:33). How many sermons have you heard in your life on this scripture? I actually used it in my message yesterday. Have you flown recently. Do you notice that certain people are given "priority," even in the boarding of the airplane? Certain people are given priority ratings.

Jesus was reminding His disciples here of the importance of keeping the priorities in their lives in the correct order. Notice in the preceding verses that He talked about food, clothes, or length of one's life. These were not to be the priorities. If they gave first place to God, they did not need to worry over their daily needs. "But seek first (really strive for) his kingdom and his righteousness, (doing things His way...the right way) and all these things will be given to you as well."

Throughout history there have been kingdoms with a king in control. In some cases, like England today, the ruler is only a figurehead, with another person or group in charge. The Kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom. Jesus desires to rule as King over our lives. He does not rule as an earthly king might rule, but His reign is one of love. His Kingdom is one of righteousness, doing right and being right. Seeking this Kingdom means more than just looking for it. It means more than just searching for it. Seeking for this Kingdom means seeking for God. It means seeking God and His Kingdom as the prime objective in our lives with everything else in second place.

As we check our "priority list," do we have first things first? SEEK FIRST! Have we relinquished everything to our Lord Jesus? Is He reigning in our lives as our King? Have we allowed Him to take up residence in every area of our lives?

If we do, then "all these things will be given to US as well." It is wonderful to live in a world of faith in our King.

Have a great week....Let your light shine for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
