A Guide To Lead Us

"He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle" (Ps. 107:7).

Many years ago, before we were married, I took Jane to New York City. Now understand, Jane was a Kansas farmer's daughter. As we walked through the streets and visited places like the Empire State Building and the UN, I could see the awe in her eyes. It was like we were sojouners in a foreign land. Today, Jane is the best NYC tourguide that I know. She can navigate through the city with ease, knowing where all the things of special interest are.

In today's scripture, the Israelites are viewed as travelers lost in a barren desert. Previous verses say that they were hungry and thirsty and their "lives ebbed away." When they cried out to the Lord, He delivered them from their distress as "He led them by a straight way."

In our lives today we may sometimes feel like we are lost. It may be in the doldrums of our jobs, or in disappointment, discouragement or despair. We may be wondering whether we are going in the right direction. Just a prayer away is our guide, ready to lead us in the right way....HIS WAY! As with Adam and Eve, hiding in the garden, He knows where we are. What is often unknown to us is known to Him. He is ready to guide back to the right path. And though it may not be a smooth way, His way is always the best and safest.

My guess is that we ask ourselves the question, "How can I know the right way?" For this, we must have a regular communication with the Lord both through prayer and the reading of His Word. We cannot hold back but rather put our confidence in Him, the Master Guide, to show us the right way. The glory of all this is that He will lead us to Himself. "For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things" (v 9). He will lead us back to Him and in Him we will find complete satisfaction.

Have a wonderful beginning to your week...Let you light shine for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
