The Wind At Our Back

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" (Isa. 40:29).

Since my knees decided to betray me a few years ago, my main form of exercise today is on the bicycle. As a rider I notice things during a ride that I did not notice as much as a runner...Subtle hills and the wind direction. Yesterday I took off and and the first 8 miles of my ride were really fast. I have a little gizmo that tells my tells me my speed, average speed, and a few other things. I averaged about 19 mph for those first 8 miles.(Pretty quick for me) Why? The wind was at my back. I just thought it would make a good devotional topic....How can we keep the wind at our backs?

"He gives strength to the weary." The Lord has that strength! Isaiah tells us in v 26 to "lift your eyes and look to the heavens; Who created all these? He who brings out the starry hosts one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of His GREAT POWER and MIGHTY STRENGTH, not one of them is missing." This great and all-powerful God has the strength to keep the wind at our backs. In v 28 of chapter 40 he writes, "The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow weary or tired." The wind is ALWAYS THERE...

God knows how easy it is for us to get discouraged. He doesn't want us to faint and grow weary. His promise of power and strength is for those that need it...To those who have no might. Just when we need the breeze, He is there with an endless supply. This power is a gift from our Lord. "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."

Finally, read about the wind that is available to us in vs 30 and 31. "Even the youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who HOPE IN THE LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." The power BEHIND a Christian is greater than the problem before him. Can you feel the breeze?

Have a wonderful weekend and an inspirational worship on Sunday...Love mark Phil. 4:11
