Getting "In Good" With God

"But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.....Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God" (Gen 6:8-9).

In a poem by Rudyard Kipling entitled, If, he writes, "If you can keep your head while all around you they are losing theirs".....Noah lived at a time when the Lord "saw how great man's wickedness on earth had become." Yet he was an example of a person who could live a godly life in the midst of an evil world. He was able to live a life that was pleasing to God in his everyday environment. "But Noah found favor in the eyes of of the Lord." His favor with the Lord was through no merit of his own, but through his personal faith with God.

Noah was apparently the only righteous man living on the earth at this time. He was recognized by the Lord as perfect man; not perfect in character, but in a life revealing his genuine faith in his God. In a wicked world, he was able to stay in close fellowship with God. It says to me that our walk with God is to be determined by our environment but by our hearts. Noah's main concern was not in pleasing men, but pleasing his Lord. "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord."

As we look at our own lives, we may ask ourselves the question, "How do I find favor in the eyes of the Lord?" We look at our lives and see our weaknesses and failures and come to the realization that we have no real merit by which the Lord can accept us. Then along came Jesus! We can find favor in the eyes of God through our relationship with Jesus Christ. God sees US as perfect in HIM!

As with Noah, we may find ourselves in an evironment that is not conducive to Christian living. God gives us the grace to live the right way. "But he gives us more grace" (James 4:6). Is God finding favor in our lives? Are our lives pleasing to Him? They can be through our relationship with His Son.

Have a great day...Let your light shine for Him...Love mark Phil. 4:11
