God's "Shield" Of Protection

"But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head" (Psa. 3:30).

King David at the time of this writing was fleeing from his son Absalom, who had led a revolt against him. He was in great distress and in deep despair. In vs' 1&2 he says, "How many rise up against me....many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." " David however had a secret weapon. He knew where to turn in his darkest hour. With confidence he said, "But you are a shield around me" when enemy darts were hurled at him, David used the "shield" of the Lord as his defense. In deep despair he knew the glory of the presence of the Lord. He had the confidence that even though it seemed that he was down, that God could lift him up.

David took his problem to the Lord and left it with Him. In v 5 he was able to say, "I lie down to sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me." We sometimes face situations that seem to leave us with little hope. Perhaps many have turned against us and we are at a low point. We have the same source of protection that David had. We also need to say, "But you are a shield around me, O Lord." We do not need to fear the attacks of our whatever our enemy is, because we too can have the shield of God...HIMSELF!

His presence in us can "bestow glory on me," and bring His splendor and beauty into my life. When our heads and hearts are low, He can help us to rise up. To lift our heads so that we can see Him, and cast our cares upon Him, as he wipes away our tears.

We can finally say as David did in vs 4&5, "To the Lord I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy hill. I lie down and sleep again, because the Lord sustains me."

Have a great day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
