Nothing To Be Afraid Of

"The Lord is the light of my salvation---whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life---of whom shall I be afraid (Psa. 27:1)?

Franklin Delano Roosevelt is generally credited with this qoute from his first inaugural address. "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Fear is a natural emotion in our lives. It can be helpful at times in keeping out of harm's way. If we are not careful, however, we can allow it to become a controlling force in our lives.

Have you ever had the lights go out and be in complete darkness? Fear can certainly grip us at a time like this. It is so relieving when they come back on...The fear is gone. And so it is in our lives. Sometimes the lights just "go out." We are in complete darkness and cannot see the way ahead. Our hearts are gripped with fear. But God promises to be with us in the dark times to illuminate our way. He will show us the next step ahead.

The wonderful comfort we have to be free from fear is the knowledge that He is our SALVATION! He is the all-powerful one in Whom we can place our complete trust. We can have the confidence that He will lead us on the path that he has chosen for us, even though we may not see the path clearly. He is not only our salvation, but He is our STRENGTH! Can there be a greater power in our lives? Our weakness is made strong by His power.

He was our strength in the past (v2). He is our strength in the future (v3). He is our confidence throughout our lives. "I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and He delivered me from all my fears" (Psa. 34:4). In the light of his presence I shall not fear; in the security of His presence I shall not be afraid. We don't even have to fear, fear itself.

Have a great week...Let your light shine for Him...Love mark Phil. 4:11
