One Step At A Time

"Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me (Psa.119:133).

Before my knees told me that I should become a bicycle rider for my exercise, I was a runner. Oh, not a really good runner, but I could put in the miles. On some days my body (actually my mind) said, "whew....too many more miles to go." On those days I adhered to the "one step at a time" philosophy. An old Chinese proverb says, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."

Our scripture verse today says this about our "spiritual walk." "Direct my footsteps according to your word." Our steps are to be guided by The Word. My son recently took a new job. In preparation for it, he read massive amounts of material that were germane to it. He familiarized himself with the knowledge necessary to have a successful start. So it is with our Christian life. The Lord's Word is the "instruction manual" for our lives. To have our steps directed along His paths, we must know His instructions. "The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple" (v 130)

As we make His Word an integral part of our lives, our steps will be guided by it. "He will guard the feet of His saints" (1 Sam. 2:9). I am not foolish enough to pass myself off as a Biblical scholar. I am not. Without insulting your intellegence, you are probably not either. All of us however, CAN have a deep abiding love for the Word. We don't have to know every word in it to understand that it is from God and for us.

Do we have deep love for God's Word? What is really important is that the more we grow in the Word, the more we get to know it's Author. Get to know Him in a deep and genuine way. "If the Lord delights in a man's way, He makes his steps firm (Psa. 37:23).

Have a great day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
