The Pause That Refreshes

"He said to them, 'come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest'"(Mark 6:31).

Not that any of us remember, but that Coca Cola slogan was first used in 1929. It is a good one isn't. The thought of pausing for refreshment has a certain sense of tranquillity to it. Kicking back on the recliner after we've mowed the lawn, stopping after a period of exercise, or just slipping into bed after a hard day....All kind of refreshing, yes? Do any of you enjoy an afternoon nap? For some, it is a period of invigoration.

As sleep rests the body, so prayer rests the inner person. This was certainly something that Jesus understood. More than likely, He did not take many afternoon naps, but He did get off by Himself to draw into a time of communion with His Father. He also knew that times of prayer were important for His disciples too. "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place."

It is also important for us to experience a time of refreshing for our inner being. With the tensions, problems, and pressures of life, we can come to a point where we just need to be refreshed....Physically, mentally, and spiritually.. This is the time to get a renewal that only comes in His Presence. We can come to Him in prayer, and gain the rest we so badly need...Rest in Him.

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength" (Isa. 40:31). I just can't leave out the rest of that scripture, because it is so powerful and refreshing..."They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." In the Lord, we can spiritually soar, run and walk and instead of getting tired, we are refreshed...Wow!!! Lets go to the Lord and get the pause that REALLY refreshes!

Have a great beginning to your week...Let you light shine for Him.....Love mark Phil. 4:11
