Safe And Secure

"The Lord watches over you---the Lord is the shade of your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day or the moon by night---the Lord will keep you from all harm" (Psa. 121:5-7).

We have a red metal shield in the front of our house to show that we have a home security system. We also have a safety deposit box for important valuables, and our home is insured. All theses things to protect our "stuff." We also have various methods for protection of life and health.

The psalmist learned that beyond all human resourse and device for safety, our surest security is the Lord Himself. "The Lord watches over you." He watches over us at all times and in all places. He is ever vigilant. He watches us with care, never slacking. If you have taken your small children to the beach, you know how carefully you watch for them. There is never a moment that the Lord's eye is not upon us.

If we are to have Him as our Keeper, we must make a total committment to Him. "because I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day" (2 Tim 1:12). All that we commit to Him is safe and nothing is really safe that is not committed. Its kind of like sending someone a birthday card. We write our message on it, seal the envelope, put a stamp on it, and address it. We then put it in the mail box. We do not make a total committment until we let it go and trust the USPS.

We do not have God's safety and security until we "let go." When we let go of the things of the world and commit ourselves wholly to Him we fall under the care that only our Savior can provide.

It is a very personal care. "The Lord watches over you." And finally, it is a constant care. Continue the reading into verse 8. "The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Now THATS safe and secure!

Have a wonderful day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
