Rejoicing

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again; Rejoice!

If there is any characteristic that should eptomize a Christian, it is joy. Not the quick smile that hides an inner pain, but a real joy that really radiates the peace and confidence of a heart at rest in the Lord. Not only was Paul once imprisioned in Philippi, but he wrote the epistle to the Philippians FROM prison. Here was a man who had more than his share of hardships and disappointments. Through it all his letters are filled with joy and rejoicing. REAL JOY!

I think that real joy is a reflection of a life of one who has found in Jesus Christ everything he needs. Joy is more than happiness. Not to get "punny," but that joy often depends on what happens. Real joy, real rejoicing depends not on circumstance, but on Him. We can find something to rejoice in whatever our situation, for our joy is in Jesus. There are excuses for being miserable. You may know a few. "If you worked where I do, you woudn't rejoice." If you worked with the person I do, you wouldn't rejoice." "If you had my problems, you wouldn't rejoice." Even if you can't rejoice with or where you work, or with your difficulties, you CAN be joyful in Him who is the source of all joy.

Real joy does not mean the absence of problems, but the joy of the Lord in the midst of them. In Philippians 4:10, Paul rejoices greatly in their concern for him. He then states, "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content, whatever the circumstances." Contentment and joy walk hand in hand.

I believe that it is possible to be joyful in the Lord at all times in all places. Its not like being in the right mood, or having eveything fall just right. Its not just when our days are sunny, but when the rain falls. His Joy can indeed fill our hearts. We can all have that joy if we seek Him, find Him, and abide in Him. He will fill our cups with the true joy that only He can bring.

Have a wonderful day...Bring His joy into someone elses life....Love mark Phil. 4:11
