The Word Of The Lord

"You must not eat fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it,or you will die" (Gen. 3:3)

Everyone has heard of the Bible. What it means to different people is another thing. Many think it to be a "living" document that changes as the times change. Many think it is not relevent, and does not meet our needs today. Others read into it what they want it to say to them.

In verse 1 of Genesis 3, Satan appears to Eve and poses this question. "Did God REALLY say, "You must not eat from any tree in the garden?" There was only one tree from which the fruit was not to be eaten, so just what was Satan doing? He was trying to cast a doubt in her mind as to the truth in God's Word. When Eve responded that there was one tree from which they could not eat, Satan had his own version of the truth. He said in v 4, "You will not surely die." So what Eve was confronted with was what God said and what Satan said. Decisions! Decisions! She chose to believe Satan, thus obeying his word rather than God's.

There is a popular news show that calls itself the "no spin zone." God's Word is just that. It is the Lord speaking to us today, revealing to us His plans for our lives. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, His response was, "It is written, Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matt. 4:4). Satan is still here today creating a "spin zone." Trying to cast doubts into our minds as to the veracity of God's Word. He attempts to confuse it, misquote it, add to it, or take away from it. If that doesn't work he will try to change its meaning.

When we turn to our Bibles in times of need, Satan may be there telling us that it is just not relevent to our problem. He may try to convince us that our situation is different, or that this particular decision is simply not important enough to have to turn to God's Word. In any way, whenever the authority of God's Word is minimized, we are on thin ice.

Lets continue to have our hearts open as our Bibles are, and believe what Jesus said, "IT IS WRITTEN."

Have a great weekend...Let you light shine for Him Love mark Phil. 4:11
