Our "Red Sea" Experiences

"And Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverence the Lord will bring you today" " (Ex. 14:13).

Many years ago, Jane and I were driving to PA. for a friend's wedding. She was 8 months pregnant with our middle child, Alan. Not too far from our home we found ourselves in a situation from which there was no escape. A car coming toward us started to make a left turn. With cars behind him and a deep ditch on our right, we had few choices. I braked as much as I could and turned our little Volkswagon so that the impact would be on my side, and braced for the inevitable. The accident totaled our car and pulled an earing from Jane's ear. Otherwise we walked away unscathed.

Have you ever faced a dilemna in which there seemed to be no way out? Moses and the children of Israel were facing that very situation...Literally! With the advancing Egyptian army to their rear and the Red Sea in front of them, there seemed to be no escape. They were frightened! Their eyes focused directly on their problem. "The Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them" (v 10). Trapped! No escape! But Moses said to them, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverence of the Lord." Focus your "spititual eyes" on the the only One who can save you.

We have "Red Sea" experiences come into each of our lives. There may seem to be no way out....At least, no visible way. Our attitude? Don't be afraid! Stand firm! God has always had the power to deliver us. Our role is to stand still and wait for the Lord. Many times, only He knows the way of our escape. Only our Lord is powerful enough to deliver us from the clutches of our enemy. We must maintain that faith that brought us to God in the first place. As we try to fight our battles with earthly weapons we can be frustrated and disappointed. The "full armor" of the Lord is what we need.

It does not take faith to start a journey when we can see the way though it. Faith is taking the next step when we cannot see beyond it. It is that leap of faith that shows the Lord that we trust Him.

Have a wonderful day....Make a difference for Him...Love mark Phil. 4:11
