The Encouragement Of Perserverance

"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:9-10)

When we become Christians, wonderful things happen to us. Our names are written in the Lord's book as we strive on toward our salvation. One of the things that does not happen however, is gaining freedom from the temptations of the world. Jesus warned us. So did Paul. Even with that warning fresh on our minds, temptations can be strong and unexpected. Discouragement can come from many directions. There are pressures from the world all of the time, bombarding us on many fronts. Some lose heart.

Other sources of discouragement come from within. Becoming a Christian does not automatically mean that we do not struggle with fleshly desires. They can even make us feel unworthy to wear the name of Christ, and an awareness of personal sin can lead us to lose heart and want to give up.

Finally, if this were not enough, discouragements arise within the body of Christ. maybe we feel that our labor for the church just isn't getting us anywhere. We may feel like a hamster on a wheel, always running, but never getting anywhere. I am sorry that I have painted such a bleak picture. None of these things may apply to you and your relationship with the world and your church.

Good Christians have responsibilities. These responsibilities are what make it challenging and rewarding. In vs. 1 & 2 we are told to restore one another and bear one another's burdens. Each is to bear his own load. In v 6 it says that the one who is taught the Word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him.

CHALLENGES and REWARDS! Is this not what makes life worthwhile? The rewards that we reap when we meet a challenge and succeed is immeasurable and fulfilling. So Paul says to us, "Let us not lose heart in doing good." Why? Because the opportunity is there, and we are the one who can meet the challenge. And if we "do not grow weary, we will reap."

The source of perseverence and endurance is what we get from our Lord. Lets occupy ourselves with that strength in doing good.... Have a wonderful day....WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Love mark Phil. 4:11
