Wins And Losses

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:57).

Cy Young is more than an award given to the best pitcher in baseball each year. He was a pitcher that over a 22 year span (1890-1911) won 511 games. That number is pretty familiar to baseball buffs, and is a standard that probably will never be reached. The trivia question though, goes like this. "What Major league pitcher had the most career losses?" Did you get it? Its Cy Young. (316)

Life deals us many "wins and losses." Even many Christians are living unbalanced lives. Our God has set a standard for us, but many fall short of it. Many are on the top of the world one day and in the deepest valley the next. They accept these inconsistencies in Christian life as the norm. This is not God's standard. His plan for us consists of wins. "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us" (Rom. 8:37).

"Thanks be to God." The wins in life are from God. "Thanks be to God." He is the source. None of us can have the wins in our own strength. The secret of living life victoriously is not struggling for each win, but living in the power provided by Christ. This type of living is spoken about in 1 John 5:4-5. "Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God. The wins can become a part of our daily fabric as we appropriate our faith in Jesus into each aspect of our lives.

Are there some areas of your life in which you just need some wins? Worry? Fear? Selfishness? Temper? Maybe you've been trying to win on your own. Its time to quit fighting defeat and get some wins under our belts. When we commit our failures and defeats over to Him, He will turn them into wins. "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ" (2 Cor. 2:14). In all the years that I played and coached baseball, losing was the hardest part of the game. Winning is just alot more fun!

Have a great day....Make a difference....love mark Phil. 4:11
