A Song In Our Hearts

"He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God" (Ps. 40:3)

There is a hymn in our books entitled "The New Song." (Rev. 14:3)... Some of the words are; "It thrills my soul to hear the songs of praise, we mortals sing below." and "The greatest joy that I have ever known, is praising Him in song." Many times during the day I find a Gospel song ruminating within me. Often, especially when I am alone, I break out in song. Praise is glorifying to God. We have so many blessings in our lives for which we can give Him praise.

David however did not limit his praising only to those quiet times in pleasant surroundings. He learned that there was a blessing to be had in giving praise even in times of trouble. In Ps 40:2, he says, "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand" Only then did David say, "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God."

God lifted him from his insecure place to the security of a rock. Little wonder that David felt like singing to Him. This was not David's only time of praisful singing. "I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips" (Ps. 34:1).

God has lifted us up out of "the slimy pit and miry mud" of sin. He has set us on the Rock that is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Rock of our salvation....He is the source of OUR strength and security. He gave us a "new song" to sing. One that should continue throughout our lives. It is a great song of praise for what he has done for us and continues to do. Each new trial should bring a new song of praise. Each answer to a prayer give us another opportunity to praise Him. He is not only the the object of our song, but its source.

Lets let our God give to us a new song of praise today, whatever our circumstance may be. "They sing in heaven a New Song, of Moses and the Lamb."

Have a wonderful day....Let your light shine for Him....The best is yet to come love mark Phil. 4:11
