Power And Strength

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" (Isa. 40:29).

If you surf through the channels in the wee hours of the morning, you find alot of "paid programming." Those are the "infomercials." So many of them are geared towards our strength and health. Natural supplements, exercise machines and programs to help us to gain back our vitality.

With all of these aids available for the "outer" person, there is something missing. There is no provision for the strength of the inner person. We have not gone to the source of real strength, God Himself. As we look a few verses back we see the real power of our God. In verse 26 it tells us to "lift your eyes and look to the heavens; Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of HIS GREAT POWER AND MIGHTY STRENGTH, not one of them is missing."

This same all powerful God who created the universe and all that is in it, is also the source of our strength. The difference between the strength of God and our strength is that His is inexhaustable. Verse 28 says He is the everlasting God, "He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom."

The Lord knows that we can become discouraged when the storms of life beat upon us. He does not want us to grow weak and weary. It is His promise to provide strength to those who are faint. To those who cannot summon up their own strength, God has that inexhaustable supply. HIS strength is enough for all of our needs. The power is a gift. Remember, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."

What is our part in this? Look at verse 31. "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." The rest of this verse is one of my favorites....Please read it. since the power is given by our God, it can do what human strength cannot. It has been said, "the power behind a Christian is greater is greater than the problem in front of him." In the hymn, The Battle Belongs to the Lord, the chorus says, "And we sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord, We sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord." Its available, lets put it to use.

Have a wonderful Monday....Let your light shine for Him.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
