Things We Can Depend Upon

"God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful" (1 Cor. 1:9).

Can you think of some things in your life that are marked by their faithful nature? One of my early reading book experiences in school was about the geyser in Yellowstone National Park called Old Faithful. Old Faithful is not the largest geyser in Yellowstone, but its special attraction is its reliability. With an error of 10 minutes, it will erupt 65 minutes after an eruption lasting less than 2.5 minutes and 92 minutes after one lasting more than 2.5 minutes. I guess thats considered 'pretty faithful."

When we ponder this we can consider the faithfulness of the one who created our universe. OUR GOD IS A FAITHFUL GOD.... I love the scripture in Lamantations 3 which tells us that his compassions never fail..."They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (22-23)....They are new EVERY MORNING! Our God is faithful and we can depend on His faithfulness.

To really appreciate and concieve of this faithfulness, we need to know His promises. We need to know them because He is faithful to them. The writer of Hebrews in 10:23 writes, "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." David writes in Psalm 143:1, "Oh Lord, hear my prayer and listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief." We can have the confidence that our God not only can, but will do all He has promised. Our faith rests on a great God that keeps His Word just as he has promised.

We have a song in our hymn book entitled. "The Steadfast Love of the Lord." Its words go like this; "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; They are new every morning; Great is thy faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I will hope in Him." "Therefore I will hope in Him."

Because our God is faithful, we can come to Him in confidence with our needs.

Have a great day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
