Goodness And Mercy

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" (Psa. 23:6).

This is the last verse of the 23rd Psalm which many of you have probably committed to memory. In this Psalm, David stated that in his daily walk with God as his personal Shepherd, that all of his needs were provided. As he closed the Psalm, he could state unequivocally, that from his personal experience, "surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life."

As we look ahead we cannot see "all the days of my life" that are in front of us. David however, made a statement with confidence. He said ALL THE DAYS. All 365 of them in the year. Not just the good days, but the bad ones too. Not just the easy days, but the hard ones too....ALL THE DAYS!

We are a curious people by nature. It is why people read horoscopes. We may not know what tomorrow, next month, or next year hold for us, but this we know. In the Lord, regardless of what comes, there will never be a day when God's goodness and mercy does not follow us. They will accompany us of our daily walk through life.

In Ephesians 2:4, Paul describes God as being, "rich in mercy." David says in Psalm 34:8, "Taste and see that the Lord is Good."

I believe that adds up to "goodness and mercy." The goodness is to supply and provide, and the mercy is to pardon. We can be assured of this because God has never failed in the past. Every time He has pledged with His Word, He has fulfilled. With this we can have the assurance that His goodness and mercy are with us today. As it was with David, it can be with us.....Personal!

Finally, the last part of the verse. David's belief was that he would, "dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

When our life here on earth is done, we have the same promise. Jesus made that promise to us in John 14:2&3. He said that in His house there are many mansions. He said He was going to prepare one of them for you and me. "That where I am, you may also be."

Have a wonderful day...I hope you have an excellent worship service to the Lord on His day...Let you light shine for Him.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
