Short Cuts

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6).

We live in an impatient society. Pushing buttons and turning switches and getting instant results has made us jaded. Many expect all things to happen quickly so that they can move on to their next time saver. As I write, this computer and how quickly it works, is becoming obsolete...There must be something faster!

Unfortunately, we sometimes try to use these same principles to guide our Christian lives. We try to take short cuts in our Christian growth, only to find out that it doesn't work. I believe that this was what Paul was getting at with this scripture. He said that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Do you see a timetable there?

We may, in our haste to reach spiritual maturity, look for some short cut or instant formula to spiritual growth. It just isn't there. God knows what He is doing. I think He wants us to live our lives on this earth with patience. If He is not in a hurry, why should we be? God always looks at the big picture. He sees that spiritual growth is a continuing process that lasts our entire life. A life that is to end on this earth and continue with Him for eternity.

There are new homes being built near ours as I write this morning. They all start the same way. They start as a blueprint. Then there's a hole in the ground and a foundation. You know the rest. There is a continuing process until the house in completed. When a person becomes a Christian, God's blueprint begins to be carried out. The foundation is made, and the details that bring us to spiritual maturity are added throughout our lives.

You have probably seen or heard that little saying, "Be patient with me, God isn't finished with me yet." There are many things that will happen in our lives that will help to make us more spiritually mature. We may not see what He is doing, but can be confident He will not leave undone what He has started. No short cuts....No rapid results...Just a day by day walk to the Lord.

Have a wonderful day....Let you light shine for Him Love mark Phil. 4:11
