We Are All Keepers

"I have come that they may have life and have it to the full (John 10:10).

If you read the devotional yesterday, I told you that I was going fishing. I did indeed take my sister, who loves to fish more than I do, fishing. The fish that we were trying to catch were summer flounder or fluke. Over the years, the restrictions on catching them have tightened. At one time you could keep all of them you caught, no matter what the size. Today there is not only a number limit, but a size restriction. A summer flounder must be 18 inches to keep. (we call them "keepers") I knew that there was a devotional in there.

When Jesus came to earth, he did not go to only those of his own race or class. He went to a Samaritan woman. He went to a tax collector. He went to those who were blind, deaf or lame. He went to those who were diseased with the worst ailments of the day. (leprosy) To me, what Jesus was saying, and is still saying today, is that we are all "keepers." He does not want to throw any of us back. None of us are too small, and there is not restriction as to how many people will fit in heaven.

"The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Is there a catch? (pardon me please) Yes there is. We must respond to His desire that all of us come to Him. We must respond in obedience to His will.

The life in Christ is available in abundance for every need. If it is peace we need, He has plenty of it. If our need is wisdom or patience, He gives in abundance. Maybe we lack joy. His abundant supply can fill our hearts to overflowing. The great thing is, that it is not for just a select few. It is God's desire that we all come to Him and avail ourselves of His abundance. All of His resources are available to everyone for abundant living. In this, we can allow our abundance to overflow into others. Its not our overwork but our overflow that will bless others.

Isn't it great to be a keeper?

Have a wonderful day and weekend. I hope your worship experience on His day is a joyous one. Let your light shine for Him...Love mark Phil. 4:11
