Pumping Up

"Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord" (Rom. 12:11).

Do you know someone who conducts their business with efficiency? I mean the type of efficiency that almost make you marvel at their organizational skills and the zeal with which they carry them out. Then there are those who are so unorganized, that we wonder how they make it from day to day. I suspect that many of us are somewhere in between these two. We are in a kind of "business" as Christians. It is the greatest business in all the world. Our partner is the Lord, and we are in the business of serving Him and sharing His Word with others. In whatever we do in our lives, the business of being a Christian is a full time job. Paul puts it this way in Col. 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men." It is clear to me that God wants us to be good at what we do. As His ambassadors on earth, His representatives, we are to carry out our daily activities with zeal.

I recall in the book of Revelation, as Jesus was pointing out what was right or wrong with each of the Asian churches. What He said when He came to the church of Laodicia was bone chilling. The term He used as their fault was that they were lukewarm. It certainly appears that He wanted them to be enthusiastic. We should be enthusiastic in everything we do for Him. All aspects of our lives should be conducted with the attitude that we are about His business.

Young Christians and old alike. We are all on the same course. A friend and brother of mine wrote a book entitled, "America Asleep." Are we as Jesus' workers asleep? Maybe we have lost some of the enthusiasm we once had. Its not too late to "jump start" our lives and rekindle the fire. We should petition the Lord in our prayers to restore to our lives the joy and zeal we once had

The time is now to wake up! The time is now to use the opportunities that are before us. "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord." I just can't say it any better than that.

Have a great weekend, and a wonderful worship experience on His day...Let your light shine for Him Love mark Phil. 4:11
