He Ain't Heavy

"Carry each another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Gal.6:1)

As a child, did you ever try stacking things up just to see how high you could get them? Toothpicks, cards (in college we used to try to stack Coke bottles)...Anything that would stack. It is almost a foregone conclusion that if you try to stack too high it will tumble down.

In many lives, "stacks of burdens" have been building. They pile on one another until the inevitable happens...It all comes crashing down. God has given us the opportunity to be burden bearers. "Carry one another's burdens." Unfortunately, we get so wrapped up in our own lives, that we fail to see the opportunities to, "fulfill the law of Christ." Many are stacking up burdens of sadness, heartache, or frustration. Will we be that friend who helps to bear those burdens?

Paul gives the us a great benchmark figure in Romans 12:5, where he writes to us "to rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those that weep." When the Spirit is ruling in our hearts, we will have that compassion for others, putting ourselves in their place and empathizing with them. More words from Paul in Romans 15:1&2..."We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good to build him up."

Jesus set the burden bearing tone in Matthew 11:28. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." I believe that Jesus tells us that He was willing to set the example for us and that we should be in the business of trying to give rest to others.

The great thing that we have going for us as we enter the world of burden bearing, is the realization that we are not carrying the load alone. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." (1 Pet. 5: 6&7). When we really love, we will want to it to someone. Remember the kids song we learned?

"Love is something if you give it away, give it away, give it away...Love is something if you give it away, you'll end up having more...Love is like a lucky penny, hold it tight and you won't have any. Give it away and you'll have plenty, you'll end up having more"

He ain't heavy....Have a great day....Let your light shine for Him Love mark Phil. 4;11
