A Minstry Of Praise

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to his powers that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen (Eph. 3:20-21).

Ministry equals serving. That's pretty simple. As we look at Paul's ministry in the Book of Acts, and read his epistles, we can readily see how he served. He served with the words he spoke and wrote. He also served with his prayers for those he cared for and loved. But a ministry of praise is another thing. How does one go about serving by praising?

It is so simple that it is often overlooked. It is so basic, that even I get it! God is worthy of praise. He is served when people praise Him. It is common to hear Eph.3:20-21 called a "doxology." A doxology is a short statement of praise. They are common in the Psalms. "Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen" (Ps. 72:18&19). Just for FYI, doxologies are found in 1 Timothy 6:15&16, 1 Peter 4:11, Jude 24&25, and other places.

God's people praise Him! There is a fiction abroad that the assembly of the church is exclusively about people going away feeling good (and they should). That there is no real need for praise. To some, the assembly is almost wholly about encouraging one another in godliness and good deeds (and we should). But in reality, we gather together because God is our God. We gather together because Jesus is His Son, Who He sent to us. They are WORTHY OF PRAISE!

We assemble to praise in song, prayer, and remembrance. God is what faith is about; praise is the response of His people. There IS a ministry of praise. The next time you smile a smile for someone, even in a time when a smile might be hard to do, let them know it is in praise of God. When you show a kindness when it is not called for and it is recognized, let those about you know that it is in praise of God. Our ministry of praise extends into all aspects of our life. Those about us will see the Lord in us, when we are doing all for His glory. There is a ministry of praise!

Have a wonderful day...Let your light shine for Him...It will praise Him and uplift those about you. Love mark Phil. 4:11
