"A happy heart makes the face cheerful" (Prov 15:13).

So, how have your "smiling muscles" been doing lately? Have they been getting a good workout? Have you ever been in a crowded place and noticed how many people were smiling and how many were not? It is just one of those things that I notice. The writer of this proverb implies that a smile comes from within. In other words, if we have happiness and contentment on the inside, that it will show on the outside. Later on he writes, "A joyful heart is good medicine" (17:22).

So often, the people I used to work with just didn't seem to be very happy. It showed in their countenance. A sunny disposition should epitomize us as Christians. Our countenance should be a cheerful one. "A happy heart makes the face cheerful." This is an inner cheerfulness which is not affected by circumstances. "A joyful heart is good medicine." Good medicine for us and good medicine for others.

So, where does this cheerfulness that we ought to exude come from? I believe that the reality of being happy starts with being at peace with our Lord. It should give us an inner joy that simply can't be contained within and needs to radiate outward. Cheerfulness is the product of inner joy, and a smile is the outward expression. When a person that has that cheery nature about him enters a room, the whole room seems to light up. Not only that, but it also seems to be contagious, as spirits are lifted. Good medicine!

The happy people are those who are filled with the peace of God. This peace fills them to the brim so that they can rejoice at all times, in all places, in all situations. The Christian has Christ as his Savior and as the answer to his daily needs. I tried to find the source of this saying but could not. "A smile is a light in the window of your face that shows that you are at home." Take it with you today. The Lord gives us the reason."I Will enter his Gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter his courts with praise, I will say this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice for He has made me glad."

Have a wonderful day....Let your light shine for Him....Love, mark Phil. 4:11
