More On The Word

"They are more precious than gold, much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the cone" (Ps.1 9:10).

My wife Jane had this wonderful NAS Bible for a very long time. Not too long age, she was finally forced to replace it, because it was so tattered and torn, dog-eared and marked up. She read it so much and marked in it in so many places, that it finally gave out. Jane is my idol as far as a Bible reader. It was hard to replace an old friend.

The value of pure gold on the market today is about $850.00 an ounce. As the earth declares to us the creation of our God, the Word reveals His heart. If it is read and meditated on, it will enrich our lives. It will show us the way to God, as it lights our path to Him. The value of the Word lies in many areas. By reading it we can learn more about our God. We can learn of His ultimate love for us that He sent His only Son to us. (John 3:16) He did this even though we were sinners.(Rom. 5:8) He loves us so much, that there is a place prepared for us with Him to live in eternity.

Have you ever needed a "sweet fix?" For me that usually means chocolate. Sugar cravings are usually satisfied by simply indulging in some. When is the last time we had a "Word of God Craving?" It can be satisfied in the same way, by simply picking up our Bibles and reading. When we really need it, it's always there for us. We should find its words to be sweeter than honey, "than honey from the comb."

In reading the Word, God comes alive to us, as He is revealed, page after page. We can truly get to know Him in a more intimate way, as the Holy Spirit makes Him real in our lives.

The other reading I do for pleasure is kind of narrow. I like to read baseball history. Unless I am reading an autobiography however, I never think of the author. The Bible is the only book we read whose Author is present when we read it. Along with prayer it is the best way to draw into a close relationship with our God.

"More precious than gold, sweeter than honey." It just doesn't get any better than that....

Have a great weekend...Let your light shine for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
