Playing On The Team

"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it" (1 Cor.12:26).

Indulge me again today as I get another baseball metaphor. One of the things I loved about playing baseball was how the individual skills of everyone one the field had to blend together. An error by one member hurt the whole team, just as a home run by another helped it. It is all about winning the game, so I had to be careful about not feeling too giddy after having a good game despite a loss. By the same token, having a bad game but winning took away the sting.

God wants us to be on "his team." He encourages us to be in fellowship with each other. In Greek the word is "koinonia" It means to share with, have fellowship and participate. Good team mates enjoy being with each other. Knowing that it is God who has brought us together should stimulate us to in our behavior. It should cause us to be more considerate and kindly to each other. Knowing that God is our "captain" should help us to be more careful in our relationships. As we are stimulated by each other, (Heb.10:24) and feel the enjoyment of it, it is natural to want to include other people that we come in contact with.

There should be a harmony in our groups. In part, it is because we know that it pleases God. Having been a teacher and coach for many years, I often found myself in chaperoning situations. Those under my care behaved better knowing that I was watching. Part of it was that I was in charge, but hopefully the other part was that they respected me and wanted to please.

As we fellowship with each other, it pleases God because He is looking for two major things from us. They are found in Matt.22:37-39. ""Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." That's the first one. "Love your neighbor as yourself." That's number two. He not only wants us to love Him and fellowship Him, but He also wants us to love and fellowship each other

The aura of His love because of His presence should draw us together in love..It is a great feeling to rejoice in one another's wins, and so wonderful to be able to comfort each other in the losses....GO TEAM!!!!!!

Have a great day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
