Real Teamwork

"Make every effort to keep the unity of spirit through the bond of peace" (Eph 4:3).

As a member of a sports team, one strives to improve. Part of it is personal because we want to be the best we can be. The other part is team oriented. The better we are, the better the team will be and its chances of winning will improve. The growth each member receives from its relationship with the Head, Jesus, is used for the building up of the other members of the body (Eph. 4:15&16). The concern of each member should not be only personal benefits but also benefits for the whole body.

Another purpose of the members of the body is to help keep the whole body "in focus." Each of us should have two main goals. First, it should be the goal of each member to be more like Jesus. As we strive for this our lives will become richer and more productive. We will become better servants. The second goal is long-term. This goal is the desire of spending eternity with the Lord in heaven.

It takes a constant and consistent effort to keep the body unified. Jesus desires oneness among His followers. "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is Spirit" (2 Cor. 3:18). The major effort ought to be given to each member to a likeness of Jesus so that all their thoughts and actions will be under HIS control. The closer we come to the likeness of Jesus, the greater will become our spiritual oneness.

Jesus wants oneness among for our own good. The more powerful our "building," the greater our ability to withstand a world filled with evil. We need to have a oneness so that we can be the ones who will exert a positive influence on the world, rather than it exerting a negative influence on us. Knowing that this is how God wants it ought to make us work even harder to be in harmony among ourselves.

Have a wonderful and productive day.....Make a difference.....Love mark Phil.4:11
