Results of Unity

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken" (Ecc. 4:12).

One of my mantras which people are probably tired of hearing is about peace, harmony, and happiness. A church (or any group for that matter) won't experience growth if its members are not happy, at peace, and in harmony. If they are happier than you where they are, why would they want to be with you???? Few people enjoy strife and friction. If they do, I DON'T WANT TO BE WITH THEM!!! Peace and harmony is delicious. It is heart-warming. It is really beautiful. "How good and pleasant is it when brothers live together in peace and unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head.....(Psa.133:1&2)

Unity is pleasant to all who experience it. When a group sings a song in perfect harmony, with all parts singing the right notes, the sound is delightful to the ears. It is delightful not only to the singers, but to the listeners. When each sings any note that they want to, disregarding the harmony, the sound is simply not pleasant to the ears. When there is unity, each member of the group is built up as they work together.

Unity makes it possible for much more to be accomplished. Where there is brotherhood there is greater opportunity for service. Just as Jesus said that He came to serve and not be served, (Matt.20:28) so should our lives be lives of service. A group working together in peace and harmony will be able to serve in a much greater capacity.

A peaceful harmonious group will do so much for the emotional and spiritual makeup of each member. They will be happy, and in happiness comes the opportunity to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. A loving unified brotherhood, through their love for each other, sends out the message that they are followers of Jesus. "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35).

Finally, a loving, unified brotherhood is attractive. For it is peace and harmony that people desire...It is often peace and harmony that they lack...."And the peace of God that passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:7).

Have a great Wednesday...Let your light shine for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
