Time...So Much, So Little

"Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time" (Col. 4:5) KLV.

We live in a world in which vast amounts of knowledge are at our finger tips. Just type in a few words and there it is. Wikipedia says that time "is a component of a measuring system used to sequence events, to compare the duration of events and the intervals between them, and to quantify the motion of objects" It goes on to explain, "But defining time in a non-controversial manner applicable to all fields of study has consistently eluded the greatest scholars." Did you get all that??

Time is all we have, but no one knows what it is. We can't see it, touch it, smell it, or taste it. Regardless, we know its here. We can't speed it up or slow it down. Time never takes a day off. We age exactly one day every twenty four hours and then God gives us another. No day is insignificant or can be relived. We can save money for a rainy day, but not time. Time is not life but we live within its parameters. Jesus said, "I come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). It appears that Jesus did not come to add years to our lives but put life into our years.

The Bible records for us about three of Jesus' thirty three years on this earth. He did a great deal in those few years. As we read of Him however, it never seems as if He is in a hurry. No Blackberry, no calendar of events, no monthly schedules, no annual lists of goals....Not even a list of what he was doing today...All of these may be all right for us, but Jesus didn't seem to have any. Perhaps His favorite word was "must." He made time for both friends and enemies. He was with one group when He was stopped to deal with another. His family could not even schedule Him in.

Jesus knew that everyday was God's day. He met every day with an enthusiasm. His philosophy about time might have been that it was not for doing more but for doing what matters. We too have every day to do what matters. Lets do as Jesus did. When Jesus exited the earth it was pretty much the same as when He was here. The difference? The world has a Savior now! God's will was done here on earth.

How do we become more like Jesus? Do every day what God wants done. That's how to use time....A little more about this tomorrow.

Have a great day....Make a difference....Love mark Phil. 4:11
