Doing It Right

"Whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent, worthy of praise...Let you mind dwell on these things...The things you have heard and received and seen in me, practice these things and the God of peace shall be with you" (Phil. 4:8&9).

The Greek astronomer and geographer Ptolemy was perhaps the most brilliant scientific mind of his day. His theories about the earth however were flawed. He postulated the geocentric theory. This theory said that the earth was at the center of the universe and it was accepted as fact for the next 1,400 years.

Have you been reading the newspapers or watching the news shows about the governor of Illinois? It seems that he was going to try to "sell off" President-elect Obama's senate seat to the highest bidder. As we look at the greed that has been part of the cause in some of the major bank collapses, we can see "geocentrism" at its best (I guess I mean worst).

What happened to integrity? What happened to a man's word being his bond or a simple handshake sealing the deal? They may have gone the way of leaving our doors unlocked at night or when we are gone. Is innocence treasured the way it once was? Do personal responsibilities go unfilled because there just doesn't seem to be a need to do so? As Christians, I hope that we live to a higher standard.

The problem magnifies itself when man thinks that because the world operates this way, that God does too. WRONG!!! The apostle Peter is there to remind us if we are tempted to think this way. "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Because man can be bribed and give approval to corruption, lets not be tempted into believing that God can too.

Simply put, God wants me to "do it right. "He is not interested in "lip service." Our worship needs to be heart felt, not just going through the motions. God wants our uncompromising love and obedience. If we have that, we will not be able to do enough for Him. We will find ways of service all around us...God will be our CENTER.....We will DO IT RIGHT...

Have a great weekend and an uplifting worship experience on the Lord's Day...Let you light shine for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
