Dealing With The Temptations Of Life

"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things, as we are.....yet was without sin (Heb. 4:15).

For those who are impressed by numbers, Jesus is referred to as "man" 36 times in the New Testament. The term "Son of Man" is applied to Him 82 times. (80 are self-descriptions) In our Bibles, the humanity of Jesus is perhaps one of the most under appreciated aspects. The Book of Hebrews explains in a very concise manner, that this humanity was necessary. That Christ's brotherhood was essential for Him to suffer and die for our sins.

It is important for us to understand this humanity. For us to see our way through the temptations of life, to struggle with our weaknesses, we have but to turn to the humanity of Jesus...."Tempted in all things, as we are.....yet was without sin." This could turn into a treatise if I am not careful, but I will try to keep it as brief as possible.

Jesus proved to us that temptations can be conquered. That they are not insurmountable. He clearly demonstrated how it can be accomplished. Obviously, reading Matthew 4:1-10 will help. But if we are genuinely interested and committed to walk as He walked, we will divest ourselves of the impediments......laziness, pride, selfishness....Any negative that would get in the way of a more complete devotion to doing God's will.

Here is a list of things to immerse ourselves in (if you try, you can probably come up with others) that will help us. Prayer....Bible Study....Faithfulness In Service....Fellowship....Nurturing Good Relationships.

Temptations will always be there. Praise be to God that He has shown us the way through Jesus. That through Him we can, "approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we might receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (V 16)

I hope you have a wonderful beginning to your week...Make a difference...Love mark Phil. 4:11
