If You Want To Make God Laugh, Tell Him Your Plans

"Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel" (Acts 9:15).

I am by my own admission, not a very good planner. If one uses the Type A or B criteria to judge this, I might be a Z....I actually wanted to give credit to someone for the catchy title this morning, but I could not find who to attribute it to. So what about your life? Is it going "according to plan?"

Paul (first Saul) had some plans of his own. He was a genuine fire-breathing anti-Christian. "Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples" (Acts 9:1). God had different plans for him! The Lord has a definite plan for each of His children. Since God is a God of method and order, why would we think otherwise?

A summer ago, the water pump on my outboard motor stopped operating properly. If you know me, I am not the most adroit person when it comes to using tools and fixing things. Since the job was an expensive one, and everyone told me how easy it was, (Yeah right!) I decided to tackle it myself. I bought the "shop manual" and read the part about changing water pumps....OVER and OVER and OVER! You see, there is a prescribed plan about how this job is to be done, and not following it can prove to be disastrous. And so it is with God and us. He has a plan.

He had a plan for Abraham, (Heb.11:8) Moses, (Heb, 11:24) David, (1 Chron, 17:7) Isaiah, (Is. 6:8) and Jeremiah, (Jer. 1:5-8) God teaches this through His word. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Eph. 2:20).

God's plan for us follows the "three P's". Its personal, perfect, and practical. Its personal for we are each unique in our own way. It is perfect in that it is God/made. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is----His good, pleasing, and perfect will" (Rom. 12:2). Its practical because it is workable and completely related to everyday living.

For each of us, the most important thing to do is discover God's plan for our lives. I believe it will make our lives more fulfilling and meaningful. The thought will be continued tomorrow....

Have a wonderful day in Him...Make a difference.. Love mark Phil. 4:11
