To Love The Lord

I LOVE THE LORD

"I Love the Lord, for His love so full and free, He taught us why that our love like His should be; To be like Him, and compassion freely give, Oh, bless His name, we then with Him could live.....I love the Lord, He has been so good to me, He gave His life, from sin to set me free; No greater love than His could ever be, I love the Lord, because He first loved me.

Tommy Wheeler 1970

There are so many reasons to love the Lord. This part of a song in our hymn books encapsulates several of them. HIS love is so full and free. It is full in every sense that we can consider full. It is free in that it is there for all of us to share equally. It is free from anything devious or with some ulterior motive. The Lord wants our love to be like His....Full and free...

Full in every sense, and free to share with others. If our love is not full and free, how can we expect to have love for our neighbors, enemies, or brethren? "And He has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother" (1 John 4:21).

"To be like Him, and compassion freely give." Our God is a God of compassion, and if we love Him, we will be people of compassion. Our compassion will extend to acts of service and mercy. It will extend to our attitude of forgiveness. When we truly engender the love of God in us, it will overflow to others.

Jesus said on one occasion that some did not have the love of God. "But I know you, I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts" (John 5:42). So how do we insure that the love of God is in us? Jesus told us how! "If you love me, you will obey what I command........"If anyone loves Me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him" (John 14: 15, 23).....Such simplicity...

"Oh bless His name, we then with Him could live." Through the Love of God in Jesus Christ, we all have the hope of one day living with Him forever....."No greater love than His could ever be, I love the Lord, because He first loved me."

Have a great day and a wonderful start to your New Year..May it be a year of high expectations and achievements.....May we all make a difference, and may all of our lights shine brightly for Him. Love in 2009..... mark Phil. 4:11
