Being As Powerful As A Little Child

"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become as little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matt. 18:2).

So, how do we deal with our fast-paced world? With our ultimate goal to be with the Lord forever, how do we separate ourselves from the entanglements of the world? Getting caught up in the "trappings " of money, influence, and power is easy. After all, we do have responsibilities in this, friends, jobs...There are bills to be paid, livings to be made, and obligations to be tended to. How do we deal with it all?

When His disciples got caught up with the world and asked Jesus, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven," Jesus told them about REAL HUMILITY! You have to be as unpretentious, innocent, and humble as a little child. To me it is almost like the Jesus telling Nicodemus in John three, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." Nicodemus' response was about how a person could return to his mother's womb.

Just as it is impossible to be physically reborn, we can also not become little children again. Jesus' teaching here is of a spiritual nature, not a physical one. We cannot come to Him until we lay aside our egos and pride and submit to Him. The qualities that we need to exhibit are actually child-like qualities...innocence, humility, freedom from prejudice, complete trust....A little child is just not interested in power, money, prestige, and fame. These are hallmarks of the world. They only learn these when they are taught by us.

As we journey from the decadence of the world to the pristine perfection of heaven, the trip can only be completed if we appear before the Lord with the innocence and humility of a little child.

Have a wonderful day....Let your light shine for Him... Love mark Phil. 4:11
