GRACE - What The Catch?

"As God's fellow workers, we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain" (2 Cor. 6:1).

Have you heard the term, "pre-existing conditions" when it come to health or life insurance? ? Simply put, it means that most insurance companies will not accept or pay for a condition that you already have when you apply. Sometimes they will never accept them, and some companies have what they like to call, "exclusionary periods."

The reception of God's grace does come with some conditions. Although it is for all, ("for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men" (Titus 2:11)....humans must be willing to accept the favor. It is not just "zapped" on us. This principle is illustrated by Noah in Genesis 6:8. In an increasingly wicked world it says, "But Noah found grace in the eyes of God."(KJV)....There is more to it however..If we read on in verse 22 it says, "And Noah did everything just as God commanded him." Noah and his family were saved not only because of his faith, but because Noah obeyed God!

God proffered this same treatment to the Israelites when they marched around the city of Jericho with its formidable walls. Their faith was great, but they did EXACTLY what God said to achieve the results.

That all being said, grace cannot be earned. We don't have enough faith or enough obedience to earn it. Paul stated it this way, ""For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith----and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God---not by works, so that no one can boast" (Gal. 2:8 & 9). Grace excludes merit. Its not like flying a lot and earning "frequent flyer miles" for future travel. We must constantly remind ourselves that none of this is earned or deserved, and that we do not gain pardon through our own merit. If it were, we could indeed boast about it.

Grace is just what it is....A gift....A gift from God through Jesus Christ that is to be accepted and embraced...More tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day....God's grace is good....Let your light shine through for Him...Love mark Phil. 4:11
