Really Important Stuff II - Rejoice With Others

"It has given me great joy (rejoiced) to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us" (2 John 4).

There's so much bad news out there, and so many people who relish in telling it. Do you know someone who just can't wait to "spill the beans"? I knew a man who used to say, "I don't really want to tell you this, but there's something you ought to know." In other words, do I have some juicy stuff that I' bursting at the seams to tell.

John felt the need to, and next wrote to us, about rejoicing with others. In his next letter he said it again. "I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth" (3 John 4). Even with the limited communication of the day, good news had found its way to John. It was the good news of the faithfulness of some of this woman's children.

I don't know....Maybe because we "expect" faithfulness, we find no reason to rejoice in the faithful lives of those around us. Our Bible tells us that "there is joy in heaven over one sinner who repents." What about the Father in the parable of the Prodigal Son, or the Ethiopian of Acts eight? THEY REJOICED!

Joy isn't just a little chuckle and then we move on..."Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, REJOICE" (Phil 4:4). Maybe its time for us to actually seek for reasons to rejoice instead of reasons to complain and criticize.....Not overlooking wrong, but rejoicing in good and in the truth.

This was a message that John HAD to send IMMEDIATLY.....IT COULD NOT WAIT! We also should not delay in telling others our reasons to rejoice with and for them.

Have a joyful weekend...Share the light....Love mark Phil. 4:11
