Anticipation And Expectation

"Here he is speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Christ (John 7:26)?

Do you remember the catsup commercial done to the tune of the song "Anticipation?" I guess the catch was that the catsup inside the container was so good, thick and rich that it was worth the wait. Expectation in many ways fuels our lives. Anticipation of a new day with new opportunities ought to get our engines reved up. It is a wonderful thing when the fulfillment of something we have been anxiously waiting for matches the eager anticipation.

Enter Jesus please.... I love reading the 9th chapter of Isaiah. (the 11th is good too) "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace" (v6) It goes on and tells us more about the Christ.

In the case of Jesus as the answer to the anticipation of a coming Messiah, there was no disappointment. As the prophets of old predicted, from Isaiah to Zechariah, from Jeremiah to Micah, Jesus was the fulfillment. In the parlance of the card player, "in spades." As we have the advantage of looking at the entire picture, we can see the beauty of prophesy fulfilled. Jesus became the fulfillment of a great anticipation and expectation that did not disappoint.

Isn't it cool to get into a new car? The smell and feel all say "brand new!" If it happens to be our new car, it is the fulfillment of a great anticipation. Before too long however, the newness wears off and it is just another car. JESUS NEVER GROWS OLD! He will always be all we expect Him to be and more. He was able to proclaim boldly after a perfect life and a saving death that, "all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me" (Matt. 28:18).

We can put our complete trust in Him as He is the way to the Father. He is our Guide and our Savior. It is so wonderful when fulfillment far outweighs even a great anticipation....

Have a wonderful day...Let your light shine for Him....Love mark Phil. 4:11
